You have to see Dry Socket live. The Portland hardcore four-piece are a jaw-dropping whirlwind and their west coast tour that starts next week should already be enough news. But you lucky ducks get a bonus with an exclusive track from the band’s upcoming full-length Sorry For Your Loss.
At barely over a minute, “Flock” is a raw, raging punk attack sharpened by the scathing vocals of Dani Allen, who explains the inspiration behind the song and Sorry For Your Loss:
This album is all about grief. “Flock” in particular is about the freedom that comes with a parent who caused you so much trauma dying, while grieving that parent all the same. It feels so screwed up and confusing. I have those same feelings about the overall world, knowing we are destroying it while I am still participating in the downfall. Sorry For Your Loss is my rage and pain at the systems in place that are destroying us.
Sorry For Your Loss will be released via the tireless To Live A Lie Records on January 26th 2024. Listen to “Flock” below.
