Arrival Hall is a design destination.

Located in Northbridge, the store and cafe is the go-to place in Perth for Scandinavian homewares and furniture, as well as imaginative food, in a beautifully appointed space.

Making it all happen behind the scenes are husband and wife duo Clement and Lisa Tay.

In a previous life, Clement and Lisa were living in Melbourne working in the finance and pharmacy industries respectively. A career change saw them eventually move to Perth, where they noticed a gap in the market for a unique retail space.

Arrival Hall first opened in 2015 originally as a small store in a converted warehouse selling mostly homewares and gifts.

After introducing lighting and furniture, the brand began to outgrow the first space, when they discovered a rundown 1890s home that had most recently been used as a backpackers hostel.

‘It was a big project for us to take on to bring it back to life, but we could see the potential it held as the building, a large residential home built in the late 1800s, had character and good bones,’ says Lisa.

A major renovation ensued, turning the property from a disjointed series of rooms into a flowing store and cafe called Dine by Arrival Hall.

‘Our vision has always been to create a welcoming and inspiring space where people feel comfortable to linger and so the cafe was always something we knew we wanted to add on eventually as the business grew,’ says Lisa.

‘The new space and the introduction of the cafe in a more busy part of the city has also allowed us to welcome a more diverse demographic, ranging from students coming in to work on their laptops, young families looking to furnish their homes, to senior citizens who are out for a leisurely brunch or looking to furnish their downsized homes,’ says Lisa.

A large outdoor area allows space for pet-friendly seating and to showcase outdoor furniture.

Visit the Arrival Store and you’ll find pieces of world renowned brands including Muuto, HAY, Ferm Living, String, Carl Hansen & Son, Herman Miller, and Bolia.

New arrivals include sculptural recycled plastic stools from the New Zealand-based Special Studio, and minimalist aluminium storage pieces from Copenhagen brand Frama.

The store is constantly alive with the buzz of the dining room, which encourages visitors to take their time and enjoy the space.
