Dragon’s Dogma 2 Choices Guide

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is filled with choices, some of which cause minor ripples, others can be the difference between life and death. In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 choices guide we highlight the conversations we felt had impact, and the outcome of the choices available.

Running Urchin (Sven) Choice

Tell The Truth

You tell Norman the location of the urchin and he chases him away.

Lie

The guard searches in another spot and the urchin gives you his thanks. He asks you to find him later so he can speak with you, but the guard finds him anyway.

There is a quest for Sven later in the game, he does not mention this decision during that quest.

Urge Him To Escape Or Stop Talking (Waldhar)

During one of the main story missions, you’re tasked with breaking Waldhar out of gaol. During the conversation, a choice is given.

If You Choose Urge Him To Escape

If you choose this option, Waldhar explains that he will not flee anywhere except somewhere with a lot of tomes. The Gracious Hand’s Vaults is such a place, and it’s a location unlock by completing the side quest The Heel Of History

If You Choose Urge Him To Stop Talking

If you tell Waldhar to stop talking, he explains that the law is everything to him and claims to be in prison under false charges. However, he is unwilling to break the law in order to escape.

Give Sven The Gold Or Ornate Box (The Ornate Box Quest)

During the side quest, The Ornate Box, Sven asks you to help him procure an Ornate Box. You have two choices you can make here

If You Give Sven Gold

If you have already purchased The Ornate Box, you will first need to deposit it into storage to be able to offer the gold option. If you offer gold to Sven, he later shows appreciation for having the opportunity to search and buy something for himself.

Rewards – 5,000 Gold, Courtly Breaches, Courtly Tunic

If You Give Sven The Ornate Box

If you instead decide to give Sven The Ornate Box, that you can buy from a market vendor, he will still be pleased with your help, but somewhat disappointed he didn’t get the full shopping experience.

Rewards – 1x Jasper, Ring of Accrual, Ferrystone, Courtly Breaches, Courtly Tunic, 4,000 Gold

Who To Get The Beggars Garbs To (A Beggar’s Tale)

This is a Side Quest in Vernworth. At the end of the quest, you are given a choice on who to deliver the Beggars Garbs to.

If You Choose To Deliver The Beggars Garbs To Hilda

Hilda tells you that Albert is lazy and he’ll do just about anything to earn Gold. After a few days, you can speak with Hilda.

She explains that Albert has gone back to work but she doesn’t really care anymore.

You get 3 Onyx for finishing the quest in this way.

If You Choose To Deliver The Beggars Garbs To Celina

If you give it to Celina, she’s surprised to hear that Albert is a noble and has only been pretending to be a beggar. You then need to wait a few days.

After a few days you will need to visit Albert’s house. You learn that Albert was murdered, seemingly by Celina, who then died herself. You get 1x Noobloom, 3,000 Gold for this choice.

Refuse Or Demand Compensation (Arisen’s Shadow – Bermudo)

During the side quest The Arisen’s Shadow, you will chase down Bermudo, a man who has been spying on you. When you catch him, you are given a choice

If You Choose Refuse

If you refuse to let Bermudo go, you will engage in combat. Brant will interfere before Bermudo is killed and explains he is likely an agent from Battahl

If You Choose Demand Compensation

He gives you 5,000 Gold and you let him escape. Bermudo is heavily involved in later quests for Brent so it’s probably a good idea to refuse the compensation

Jadeite Orb – Give To Everard Or Offulve

After you purchase the Jadeite Orb for 7,500 Gold at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store, you can choose to give it to Everard or Offulve. You can also pay Ibrahim to make a forgery of the item so you can give one to each of the characters.

If You Give Legitimate Jadeite Orb To Everard

Everard will have it checked and you will get 2,000 Gold, Ring of Skullduggery (Increases damage when attacking from rear) as a reward.

If You Give The Legitimate Jadeite Orb To Offulve

Offulve does not check the Jadeite Orb’s authenticity and instead rushes off to return the item to his master. You get 3,000 Gold, Elite Camping Kit

If You Give Them Imitation Jadeite Orbs

Everard has the orb checked. To avoid detection you must pay 12,000 Gold to Ibrahim otherwise Everard learns that the orb is a forgery. You get the same reward.

Offulve runs off with the imitation orb and you get the same reward.

What’s The Best Choice?

The best choice for this quest is likely to give Offulve the legitimate piece, so when he returns to his master, there is no trouble. Give Everard the imitation as you get the 12,000 Gold back and get to keep the ring.

Entrust The Sword To Her Or Refuse

This is after the side quest Dulled Steel, Cold Forge, where you are asked to entrust an apprentice with the Regalia Sword.

If You Choose Entrust The Sword To Her

It may not make a difference but I did gather the full 25 Glimmercoal Ore, instead of the requested 15. Making this choice, Sara repairs the sword.

If You Choose Refuse

As the sword was successfully repaired, I didn’t try this option.

Accept His Gold Or Escort To Vermund (Phantom Oxcart Quest)

During the Phantom Oxcart Quest, you will meet Navil, a guard that has been accepting payment to gather Pawns and smuggle them across the border. When you catch up with Navil, you will have a choice.

If You Choose Accept His Gold And Let Him Go

If you choose this option you get 5,000 Gold and he flees.

If You Choose Escort Him To Vermund

If you choose this option the game automatically takes Navil to the dungeons and a guard informs you that he will get his due soon enough.

Take A Side – Choose Simon Or Raghnall

During the quest Tensions on the Highroad, you are tasked with escorting an Oxcart from Checkpoint Rest Town to Vernworth. After the quest starts, you’re given a choice.

If You Choose To Throw In Your Lot With Simon

You must attack Raghnall to side with Simon. You are then tasked with chasing down Raghnall. When you meet up with him he helps you kill some enemies before you chat at a campfire.

You learn that Augustin had hired Raghnall because he did not trust the summons sent to Vermund.

If You Choose To Throw In Your Lot With Raghnall

You and Raghall fight the guards and then run into a cave with Raghall. The two of you fall deeper into the cave and need to fight your way out without your pawns. On the way out, a tunnel collapses, and Raghall gets trapped but says he won’t die.

Give The Transference Of Souls To Isaac

During the side quest Short-Sighted Ambition, Isaac will task you with finding both parts of the On The Transference of Souls books. He already has Volume 1 so he needs you to find Volume 2. Once you have the book you can either give it to him or not, his family asks you do not.

If You Give Isaac The Book Of Transference Of Souls

If you do this the magical spell turns both his wife and his daughter to dust. He is in denial and believes he can find them again. Isaac leaves the city in search of his wife and daughter.

You get a Ring Of Disfavor

If You Don’t Give Isaac The Book Of Transference Of Souls

You can get Ibrahim at Ibrahim’s Scrap Store to make a forgery of the book, which creates the item On The Transit of Souls. If you give this book to Isaac the spell fails. Both he and his family are happy that things are back to normal and he gives you 16,000 Gold and then you can buy On The Transference of Souls 1 for 2,000 Gold.

You get the combined books for the spell

Support Or Oppose Empress Proposal (A Candle In The Storm)

During A Candle In The Storm quest, you set a trap for the bandits that made an attempt on Empress Nadinia’s life. During the setting up of the trap, the Empress wants to go along with you.

If You Choose Support The Empress’s Proposal

You agree to let the Empress accompany you. Speak with Menella again and it will change to night time. Let the person enter and they verify that the Empress is legit. She will then ask you to kill the Empress.

Swing your weapon at the Empress and then the quest proceeds and ends in the best way.

If You Choose Oppose The Empress’s Proposal

The assassin discovers that the person in the house is not the Empress and flees, you cannot stop her. You are attacked by bandits. The quest completes but Menella says you have failed.
