Many areas of Toshara are locked behind special doors that require a Slicing Kit to open. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can upgrade Kay’s Slicer in Star Wars Outlaws, unlocking the Slicing Kit and gaining access to new areas.
Unfortunately, this is quite an irritating part of the Star Wars Outlaws experience. If you enjoy roaming free, you’re likely going to run into many strongholds and locations with locked doors. If you don’t have the Slicing Kit unlocked already, you will need to return later to gain access to these areas.
Bonus Tip
We highly recommend completing this part of the Star Wars Outlaws story before doing any free roam exploration. This is largely because most of the larger camps, outposts, and defensive structures you can find, all have locked doors that require the Slicing Kit.
To avoid having to clear out enemies multiple times, follow the story to get the Slicing Kit and then start exploring more freely.
Step 1: Follow The Main Story
You will need to progress a few hours into the main story, before the opportunity to unlock the Splicing Kit is available. Continue doing work for Danka and eventually she will give you the story mission, New Tricks.
Once that mission is completed, you are able to begin the quest to unlock the Slicer Kit.
Step 2: Unlock The Slicer
Once you have completed New Tricks, Danka will tell you of some friends she has that will be able to upgrade your equipment and Speeder. One of these friends in The Slicer, one of the many Experts in the game that unlock new abilities for Kay.
Once the mission to find The Slicer begins, head to Makal’s Gambling Parlor in Mirogana. Once there, head to the bar in the center and eavesdrop on a nearby conversation. This will begin the mission chain for The Slicer.
Simply complete the mission and you will gain access to the Slicing Kit.
