I’ve got Dali paintings on my walls, Dali pins on my jacket, will eventually have Dali art on my skin — and for the record I would have bought a Dali watch at the Dali Museum in St. Pete’s, FL if the quality was anywhere in the neighborhood of the asking price — so, why not some Dali for my ears? Thusly, when this Portuguese (mostly) instrumental band, came onto my radar described both as “melted psychedelic electronic post-metal” and “a sonic journey through Salvador Dali landscapes of rock forms, pulled apart and reconfigured into mesmerizing new ones” you can bet my ear had been caught and my eyebrow cocked.
Lost Future Records will be releasing the band’s third full-length, Casarder, on March 21st and today we’re jumping the gun by airing out first single “Não vai o Diabo Tecê-las” and its recorded-live-in-the-studio video. Taking cues from early ISIS, stoner doom, Krautrock as well as Latin rhythms, the track marries metallic darkness and soundtrack spaciness with a propulsive heft. About the track, the band succinctly says, “to anticipate Verbian’s new album, the first single ‘Não vai o Diabo Tecê-las’ exposes a little about what can be said about the rest of the songs. It’s heavy, meaner, unapologetic and in your face. This is the confidence boost you need to do what needs to be done with a badass attitude.”
