PGA Tour 2K25 Preview – Play Your Way

We are huge fans of a good walk spoiled – from flashy arcade games to realistic sims, happiness for our trio of edtiors can often be found playing golf.

On that note, Gamers Heroes recently paid a visit to “The Greatest Show on Grass” – the WM Phoenix Open – to get a firsthand look at HB Studios and 2K Games’ PGA Tour 2K25.

From its accessibility and authenticity, to its robust MyPLAYER and MyCAREER modes, to even its refined Course Designer, see what PGA Tour 2K25 has in store with our hands-on preview.

PGA Tour 2K25 Preview – Play Your Way

Self-Expression and Golf Authenticity

Best said by the development team at HB Studios, PGA Tour 2K25 prides itself on both self-expression and golf authenticity.

And that’s just the way we like it.

One of the reasons we keep coming back to PGA Tour 2K23 is because one can play their own way. On that same note, PGA Tour 2K25 takes this concept even further, appealing to arcade and sim golfers alike.

For those just starting out, PGA Tour 2K25’s Perfect Swing and Shot Prediction settings can help one ease into – or improve – their overall game with a number of accessibility options.

We’ll be the first to admit our putting game needs work. However, with PGA Tour 2K25’s new Shot Prediction system in place, we were able to better prepare for where our shot was going to go. In due time, we were changing our bogeys to birdies, truly immersing ourselves in its world.

The system in PGA Tour 2K25 is an incredibly robust one, making use of the EvoSwing system. Whether one is playing with the Swing Stick system or the 3-Click Swing (like we did during the preview period), its mechanics and rhythm are just waiting to be mastered.

MyCAREER’s Quest to be the GOAT

As 2K always does best, MyCAREER and MyPLAYER will take players on their own journey to be the GOAT – as one does.

Starting out, players can choose from a number of customization options in PGA Tour 2K25’s expanded MyPLAYER functionality. We truly mean expanded too – with settings that drill down to dimples, one can be who they really want to be.

From there, one of five different Archetypes – each with their own benefits and drawbacks – can be assigned to one’s character. We went with the “Greenskeeper” Archetype which has his strength in putting (we already fessed up), but that in turn comes at the cost of Recovery Shots.

This sheer variety also applies to PGA Tour 2K25’s many different settings.

The Major Championships are definitely a draw, with the PGA Championship, US Open, and the Open Championship making an appearance and utilizing some stunning looking graphics to boot – PC players best break out that shiny new RTX 5090 for this one.

Golfers can also pick up the pace in MyCAREER with PGA Tour 2K25’s Dynamic Rounds functionality, giving players the chance to simulate holes and get the most of their tee time.

When one also factors in PGA Tour 2K25’s Equipment Progression, interview style, and attribute types, one quickly comes to realize the world is truly yours in PGA Tour 2K25.

Be an Architect with Course Designer

We’ve got an eye for detail, so needless to say one of our favorite PGA 2K features is its time-honored – and robust! – Course Designer.

For those who live and breathe design, PGA Tour 2K25 pays host to the deepest Course Designer mode to date. Much like MyPLAYER, PGA Tour 2K25’s Course Designer lets players tweak their dream courses down to the tiniest detail.

A number of quality-of-life features have also been added to PGA Tour 2K25’s Course Designer, with refined menu navigation and a number of new camera angles making it even easier to drill down.

Similar to previous entries, we’re all too eager to share their PGA Tour 2K25 courses with the world – and play other courses the community comes up with in kind.

PGA Tour 2K25 is shaping up to be a golf game for the masses, and we’re all too eager to play our way in what is shaping up to be our next big addiction.

Don’t just take our word for it – starting today, a free-to-play First Look demo of PGA Tour 2K25 is now available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As part of this PGA Tour 2K25 demo, players will be able to experience MyPLAYER, Local Match Play, Training, and Quests.

Meanwhile, the full release of PGA Tour 2K25 will come out for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 28, 2025.

Pre-orders of the Standard, Deluxe, and Legend Editions of PGA Tour 2K25 can be done via the official website, with the latter two coming with up to 7 days early access and the Early Birdie Bonus.

NOTE: A very special thank you to 2K Games for providing travel and lodging for this PGA Tour 2K25 media preview event.
