Set in a world torn apart by Mother Nature (that harlot!), Colton County awaits in Sharkmob’s open-world, tactical extraction shooter Exoborne.
Gamers Heroes recently got a chance to check out the ongoing large-scale Exoborne Play Test and also attend a digital pre-brief with the development team – learn more about Exoborne with our hands-on preview.
Exoborne Preview – Nature Calls
The Exoborne development team at Sharkmob proudly stated that Exoborne is three things at its core: Forces of nature, Exo-Rigs, and a risk-reward system.
When it comes to Mother Nature, a storm’s brewing – the Rebirth corporation is utilizing a number of STRATOS towers to control the weather, thereby ushering in the (near) end of the world as we know it.
We’re not kidding – as a Reborn that’s part of the rebellion, Exoborne will have players contending with lightning strikes, tornadoes, and other threats that make the action PvN (Player versus Nature – we’re coining it) on top of PvE.
However, Exoborne gives players the tools for the job, including a handy glider that taps into windy weather and our new favorite Exo-Rig system.
In the case of the latter, players can choose from a number of powerful loadouts. Want to unleash a Power Strike with one’s Exo-fist, or prefer to armor it up and be a tank?
There’s a Exo-Rig for you!
Do note that players will need to work fast in Exoborne – Rebirth is always on the hunt for Reborn like you, throwing a ticking clock into the mix.
On that note, Exoborne prides itself on players minmaxing their deployment. While it took some time to figure out the best approach on each map during the Exoborne Play Test, we appreciate how Exoborne encourages familiarization and growth.
That’s not the only way Exoborne utilizes high risk-high reward principles – there’s also a looting system in Exoborne that will test players’ need for greed.
While you can kill baddies and nick valuables and equipment, getting killed makes one lose everything in one’s backpack – which we learned the hard way.
Exoborne also features locked Artifacts that contain high value items, but one needs a key to open them up – be too easy otherwise! Whether one guns for it (so to speak) or finds a designated extraction point to get out of Dodge is up to the player.
Exoborne’s strong high-risk high-reward principles will have extraction shooter fans braving the weather for their next big score.
Want to check out Exoborne for yourself? Running through February 17, sign-ups for the Exoborne Play Test are available via its official Exoborne Steam page.
Meanwhile, those looking to join the conversation can check out the official Exoborne Discord channel – the development team stated that player’s thoughts are key to their success.
Finally, one can follow the Exoborne social media channels via this very convenient Linktree.
Thank you to PR for providing the opportunity to check out this Exoborne Play Test and digital pre-brief!
