Profanation of the Adamic Covenant, the debut album from new death/doom band Ritual Ascension, radiates feelings of dread and unease. Formed by members of Void Rot, Suffering Hour, and Aberration, Ritual Ascension approach the death/doom genre in a nightmarish way, as you’ll hear on new single “Womb Exegesis.”
There’s no rush on the new track; instead, Ritual Ascension let riffs unfold slowly, using dissonance as a tool not unlike a slowed-down Portal or Sentient Ruin labelmates Miscarriage.
When asked about the meaning behind the new track, Ritual Ascension told Decibel that it was based on Mormon religious beliefs.
“Womb Exegesis is the Mormon doctrinal foundation behind the pre-existence of God. Matter, unorganized, is formed into the hideous excremental creation called Man – foreordained to an eternal existence of misery and suffering at the hands of his creator, Elohim.”
Listen to “Womb Exegesis” below. Profanation of the Adamic Covenant is out on February 28 and is available now for pre-order.
