Where they from?
Dayton, OH. I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention to this 4 Nations Face-off event the NHL has created as a replacement to its traditional All-Star Game, and, hot damn, is it some good hockey. The other night I watched the Americans instigate three fistfights against Team Canada and then beat them 3-1. Every time the American team scores they play the solo from ‘Free Bird.’ I have never felt like more of a redneck in my entire life. I love it.
Why the hype?
Normally I am vehemently opposed to checking out any band with what I consider a ‘joke’ name (sorry, Ass To Mouth) but I made a leap of faith here and was quite presently surprised. Bitchy Rackmore (get it, like Richie Blackmore?) provide some exceptional midwestern style spazzy grind similar to Deterioration. Speaking of, Jim Kahmann provides guest vocals on their latest album! I love his vocal style, as he always tends to sound like someone has been stuck in an elevator for eight hours and is slowly running out of air. That’s a pretty big grindcore compliment! Also, we gotta love a pingy snare being bludgeoned as fast as humanly possible. It makes me feel whole.
Latest Release?
Probably Somewhere, Stuffed Animal Records. This band also doesn’t have a Bandcamp! In fact, I found nowhere online where I could download the album which has forced me to abuse my YouTube app all week rocking out to this thing. Is this a conscious choice? I’m not sure, but either way it doesn’t matter. This album is such a banger that we might even have to whip out the old ‘YouTube to MP3 Converter’ we used in the days of yore (2010-2015). God, I downloaded so many Primus live bootlegs with that thing. This was during a serious sexual dry spell. I call it “my 20s.”
