Song Review: RE:WIND – RE:SET

I’ll always have a soft spot for a fledging act with a couple hundred YouTube views to their name. As I’m writing this, the visualizer to RE:WIND’s pre-release track RE:SET sits at just over six hundred views, but I have a feeling those six hundred people walked away very satisfied.

Even before this release, RE:WIND has shuffled through multiple member changes. I don’t know when they’ll make an official debut, but RE:SET is a promising taste of how their music might sound. The song plays within the soft rock trend sweeping through K-pop’s boy groups at the moment, but does so with aplomb. The melodies are fresh and exciting and the arrangement offers plenty of oomph. Just listen to the way that second verse upends things with nimble keys and an extended sense of build. If this had a bit more budget behind it and bigger names attached, we’d be ready to give it prime placement in stadiums and arenas. The sound is big and bold and boasts a satisfying fullness that bodes well for their future.
