Atari fans are in for a real treat, as Tiger-Heli, Avalanche, Dark Chambers, Super Circus Atari and Countermeasure II will all be available as cartridges.
Learn more about each of these titles below:
Tiger-Heli – A fan-favorite complex arcade-style shooter, Tiger-Help has made the jump from arcades to the PlayStation 4. Now a Atari 7800+ cartridge, players can experience Tiger-Helo’s four stages with a dozen enemy vehicles and infrastructures to blow up, all while collecting points to earn mini-heli wingmen and boost one’s destructive firepower.
Avalanche: Designed by Dennis Koble and originally released by Atari in 1978, Avalanche is a one or two paddle game that encourages players to use a multi-layered shield to catch falling boulders that are tumbling down the screen. This release of Avalanche also brings with it enhancements like a fourth skill level and new diagonally-falling boulders.
Dark Chambers – Two players (vs. turn or role-based) can set out to be treasure hunters as they explore Dark Chambers’ 26 levels of underground catacombs. Along the way, players can utilize fiery bow-and-arrows and bombs to defeat ghouls and curses.
Super Circus Atari – Created by Bob DeCrescenzo in 1980 for the Atari 2600, Super Circus Atari is a popular two-player paddle game. Now updated and expanded upon with new challenges, power-ups, and simultaneous two-player action, this modernized homebrew sequel features new key art and a full-color manual.
Countermeasure II: Developed by Bob DeCrescenzo, this modern take on the 1982 Atari 5200 title Countermeasure II gives players the chance to mix combat and puzzle-solving across six terrains with five enemy types. This edition of Countermeasure II also features repurposed vintage key art created by Michel Allaire in 1982 for the unreleased Combat 2, while the manual features an exclusive interview with DeCrescenzo.
Expanding upon Atari’s rich library, all of these cartridges will include full-color manuals containing exclusive interviews and content for collectors.
On that note, fans can pre-orders these titles at atari.com.
Happening this weekend (April 4-6), fans can also go hands-on with the titles at the Midwest Gaming Classic at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, WI.
