Hardcore Mode Now Available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Medieval Bohemia has never been so brutal – Warhorse Studios and PLAION have added Hardcore Mode to their acclaimed title Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

With Hardcore Mode in place, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II quickly becomes a true test of survival.

Not only is Henry’s location no longer permanently shown on the map, there is also no compass or fast travel to lean on. As a result, players will need to navigate the world entirely on your own.

Making things even more challenging, Hardcore Mode also tasks players with selecting at least three permanent negative traits at the start of one’s adventure.

For instance, “Bad Back” requires players to carry less weight, “Somnambulant” leads to sleepwalking – and waking up – in random places, and “Hangry Henry” makes the protagonist even more obsessed with food.

Karel Kolmann, senior game designer at Warhorse Studios, said the following:

“We only kept a couple of the first game’s perks, and then we made new ones to provide a completely new challenge.

It’s not just about making the game harder either, it’s about making it more immersive too.

In the first game’s Hardcore Mode, we did things like disabling your map position and removing the compass, but we’ve gone further this time. We’ve added the option to ask different NPCs about your location in the world, which is something more immersive.

You can run into travellers on the road and ask for directions.”

“Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has quickly become one of my favorite open-world RPGs of all time. Warhorse sits atop RPG Mount Rushmore with the best this industry has to offer.”
