Full Album Stream: Veljet —Demiurgo

No tariffs have so far been levied against psyched-out Mexican stoner doom, so it continues to flow across the border into the U.S. unfettered. The latest import is a full-length debut, Demiurgo, from instrumental trio, Veljet, who rumble through eight fuzzed-out, sludgy head trips in a tight 45 minutes. Never ones to simply ride a riff for six or seven minutes, these dudes—Oscar (guitar), Hugo (drums), Guillermo (bass)—mix in all kinds of psychedelic wizardry and textures amidst the hectic sludge, providing lots of sonically interesting moments along the journey.

Demiurgo is set for a full vinyl release—on limited orange splatter vinyl—on May 23 via Things From Beyond. It’s currently available digitally and on CD. Grab vinyl from Things From Beyond here or at Bandcamp here.

Band quote:

“We’re an instrumental band known for our dark, heavy, and psychedelic sound. We blend elements of post-metal, sludge, and psychedelia, creating a powerful sonic experience with intense volume and dense distortions. This distinctive mix results in a captivating, immersive atmosphere during our live performances, where the sound itself feels like an additional member of the band. Since forming in 2018, our identity has been shaped not only by the music but also by the visual art that surrounds it. Album covers, flyers, t-shirt designs, and song titles are all integral to our vision, reflecting shared passions among the band members, including skateboarding, literature, nihilism, brotherhood, beer, and heavy riffs.

Even though we are purely instrumental, with Demiurgo, we aim to evoke powerful emotions like anger, intensity, rage, and euphoria through crushing riffs and relentless drumbeats. The guiding principles behind this album were simple: more distortion, more volume, and, of course, more beer. These elements fueled the creative process as we brought this vision to life.”
