The avant-garde death metal masters in Azure Emote have returned after a five-year absence to present us with a new world of towering drama and darkness. The band is set to unleash a new album this month called Cryptic Aura, and Decibel is pleased to present the video for “Bleed With the Moon.” The song is a richly rewarding listen, featuring a sound both captivating and terrifying.
According to vocalist/keyboardist Mike Hrubovcak:
“Overall ‘Bleed With The Moon’ is a very simple and straightforward song conceptually, but also one of the more personal songs on the album to me. Alcohol is a demon and I’ve named him Al-Kuhl. It’s an analogy based on my personal experiences and the song is about getting possessed by this demon around a bonfire in the woods at night. I’m not trying to glorify excessive drinking here, rather just artistically convey the passion, euphoria and physical and mental dangers of convening with such ‘spirits’ in the heat of the moment. I have a love/hate relationship with Al-Kuhl and have learned that eventually it ends up taking much more than it gives. This song was written during such a night however, and even the album cover is a photo of a homemade skeleton that I made and burned in the woods along with a bottle and a bonfire.”
Cryptic Aura comes out on July 25 via Testimony Records.
