Ozzy Osbourne (1948 – 2025)

John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne passed away this morning at age of 76. The legendary heavy metal vocalist, who had been battling Parkinson’s disease in recent years, was only a few weeks removed from his massive “Back to the Beginning” farewell performance in Birmingham England fronting genre progenitors Black Sabbath and performing his iconic solo material for the final time.

A statement from Osbourne’s family reads: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

No cause of death was provided. Decibel, and the entire global music community mourns his passing but celebrate a life’s work that helped change the course of musical history and set us all on this path we walk today. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
