Denver’s Torn From Existence aren’t here to sell you synergy. They’re here to drag you into the fluorescent-lit, soul-crushing purgatory of corporate metal hell—and they’re doing it in style. Decibel is proud to premiere the music video for “Tempted by the Necromancer,” a stand-out cut from the band’s 2024 debut Hearken the Darkened Skies.
Set in the sterile nightmare of Existence Corp., the video reimagines the banality of office life as a cursed, Lovecraftian HR initiative gone wrong. “Drudgery, futility, everything, nothing,” says guitarist and founder David A. Couch. “A typical day at the office begs the question—how can five miscreants with no marketable job skills whatsoever and a history of musical malpractice survive the day? SixSixSixSigma looms and with it comes the threat of a reduction in force. This can’t end well…”
Wrapped in punishing riffs, death growls, and eerie synth flourishes, the track’s chaos mirrors the mundanity of the modern grind. But behind the blood-splattered spreadsheets and ritual sacrifices at the breakroom altar, there’s a deeper message: sometimes the only way out is through total sonic destruction.
“Torn From Existence hopes you’re tempted to join our very official business team at Existence Corp., where we do everything metal… and not much else,” adds synth player/vocalist Rhiannon Wisniewski.
Formed in 2021 and forged in the fires of Denver’s extreme metal underground, the band’s current lineup—Couch, Wisniewski, vocalist Craig Rosplock, bassist Bill Bohlen, and drummer Jeremiah Maynard—delivers a sound that’s equal parts symphonic, savage, and deeply theatrical. Produced by Shane Howard at Sawn and Quartered Studios, Hearken the Darkened Skies offers an immersive listening experience that blends blackened death metal fury with cinematic grandeur.
