Album Premiere: Victim of Fire – ‘The Old Lie’

Today, we are treating you to blackened crust band Victim of Fire debuting their new album, The Old Lie, set for release on August 1. Drawing from crust punk and melodic death metal to create their unique take on the sound, the album is a scorched-earth statement on the horrors of war, the decay of truth, and the resilience of humanity in the face of collapse.

The Denver-based band keep it heavy and melodic while also commenting on the bleak state of America today. Done in the name of true crust with plenty of melodeath influence, this record is as memorable as it is honest.

Recorded in true DIY fashion and mastered to retain rawness without sacrificing clarity, the album stands as a blistering testament to underground ethos and artistic integrity.

“Our goal wasn’t to make just another crust record,” says vocalist and guitarist Austin Minney. “We aimed to create something that stands apart (like every band, of course).

“The Old Lie is our response to the machinery of propaganda that feeds generations a narrative of war and glory, only to leave them with the cost.

“These songs confront the myth that war makes men; war makes corpses.

“This album is also a personal outlet, a way to voice frustrations with the current political climate that I might not express otherwise. We hope these songs resonate with anyone who takes the time to listen.”
