Greetings, Decibel readers!
The releases below are a mix of stuff from the past few weeks. I discovered that Empillarist release late, but wanted to make sure it got some coverage here. It’s an all black metal and death metal week here, and that’s always good news!

Amphisbaena – Rift
An excellent blending of cavernous death metal and dissonant black metal. A perfect mixture for those who like their extreme metal to evoke carefully organized chaos.
—
Ancient Torment – Follow the Echo of Curses
Providence’s local black metal heroes finally gift us with a full-length album. Arriving on the always-excellent Eternal Death label, Follow the Echo of Curses is as thunderous as it is haunting — a sound of truly menacing melancholy.

Empillarist – Pale River, Ghost Reflection
Hard to argue with a one-man black metal project that puts a black cat on the cover. Errant Grief, the project’s mastermind, displays great skill in crafting dramatic and dark compositions that recall the mood of bands like Këkht Aräkh and Ebony Pendant. An excellent statement of modern raw black metal art.

Kontusion – Insatiable Lust For Death
Blistering, unrelenting death metal. The sound of the disciples from Berserk marching off to war.

Plasmodulated – An Ocean ov Putrid, Stinky, Vile, Disgusting Hell
Meanwhile, this is death metal for people who like to get nasty and gross. That’s cool, we support that here at Decibel. Perhaps someone should make a beer named after “Gelatinous Mutation Ov Brewed Origin” and we can serve it at one of our fests.
