Black metal/doom trio Cultic hail from the far lands of York, Pennsylvania and worship at the altars of Celtic Frost, Bathory and Conan, proclaiming their style “dark dungeon metal.” In recent years, the trio began to explore worldbuilding in their music, telling a dark fantasy tale in between riffs and dungeon synth passages. Fittingly, their new album is titled Lore and Decibel has a premiere of “Nomad,” the opening track on Cultic’s new record.
Nomad is one of the longer tracks on Lore, accompanied by a video that merges Cultic’s live performances and the fantasy characters they bring to life via song.
“‘Nomad’ is the story of a lone warrior who seizes ancient secrets from a dying kingdom and feeds them into the hands of The Warlock—fueling a ritual that wakes the dragon and sets the world ablaze,” explains frontman Brian Magar.
The best place to start a story is at the beginning, so try out “Nomad” below. Lore is out on October 3 via Eleventh Key Records; Cultic are also performing with Conan and Royal Thunder later this month.
