Sydney, Australia hardcore/crossover quintet, No Apologies, return to the fray with a surprisingly melancholy track and video for the song, “Grief.” As per the title, the song deals with the array of emotions one grapples with with the loss of a parent. Musically, “Grief,”—taken from the outfit’s upcoming full-length, Life—is a hard-hitting, mid-tempo chugger that even manages to find its way into a stoner metal groove in the solo section. The stark black and white video for the track was directed and edited by Travis De Vries and is interspersed with live shots of No Apologies—Pete Abordi (vocals), Peter Bursky (guitar), Andres Hyde (drums), Chris Wilson (guitar), Patrick Taylor (bass).
Life was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Elliott Gallart at Chameleon Studios, with assistance from Benjamin Cunningham. It’s set for release on vinyl and digitally via Last Ride Records on Aug 29. Place your preorder here.
Vocalist Pete Abordi had this to say about the track:
“The grief I felt after my father’s passing was unlike anything I’d ever felt before, more than just an emotion it was something I could actually feel, as in physically. Whenever I was awake it was with me, and the only time I could get away from it was when I went to sleep at the end of each day. This song delves into those emotions and for anyone experiencing a loss of their own I think they would be able to relate.”
