Interior designer Brahman Perera was engaged to select the home’s furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE), responding to these key desires and the structure itself designed by Cera Stribley and Hecker Guthrie.
Brahman’s approach was to soften the home’s architectural contemporary framework, tempering the dominance of hard surfaces, and injecting warmth into a setting that, for much of the year, is defined by cold and snow.
Prioritising material richness and sensory depth, Brahman selected a palette of earthy and textural materials. Sheepskin, timber, leather, heavy linen, embroidery, and kilim rugs evoke warmth and softness — a deliberate juxtaposition to the cold minimalism outside.
‘This contrast creates a feeling of retreat and embrace when coming in from the snow,’ says Brahman.
‘The result is a material tapestry of sorts, each chosen for its ability to enrich the atmosphere while standing up to the rigours of a mountain climate.’
Pieces such as the Extrasoft Sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani maximise the usability of the living space (thanks to its 360 degree configuration, allowing for views of both the alpine landscape and television), while tying in with the aesthetic vision.
Thoughtful lighting and tactile materials all contribute to a sense of intimacy, while open sightlines and flexible spaces ensure the home can expand to accommodate guests comfortably.
The Summit is an overall cocooning retreat, delivering a balance of solitude and sociability to support the seasonal rhythms of the owners and their alpine environment.
