Video Premiere: Prisoner – “Double Vision”

From Calgary’s steel heart comes Prisoner, cranking the amps and swinging for the fences with their new video for “Double Vision.” Taken from their latest album Kill The King—released June 20—the track is a loud, sweat-and-denim anthem that bridges the grit of classic rock, the muscle of heavy metal, and the swagger of blues.

The “Double Vision” video is pure road warrior energy: loud rooms, hotter lights, and a band locked into its own rebellious momentum. It’s the sound of Black Sabbath’s molten riffs colliding with Judas Priest’s leather-clad attack, chased with the raw immediacy of AC/DC at their most feral. And, crucially, it’s the first full-album statement from Prisoner as a band, not just a project.

“This album is especially different for us as this is a full band production from start to finish in a very short time—five months to write and record the album,” says frontman Murray Emery. “Everything released previously (apart from singles) was the work of myself as a teenager still learning my instrument and craft. This is a direct representation of who we are as a band in 2025 and sets the baseline for what PRISONER is and where we will be headed in the future.”

Critics are already hearing the fire: Montreal Rocks notes the band “taps into a lineage of denim-and-leather heavy metal with earnest enthusiasm and just enough modern bite to keep things from feeling like pure pastiche,” while Crucial Rhythm praises Kill The King for kicking “the door in, guitar blazing, drums pounding, and with frontman Murray Emery howling like a man possessed by the very spirit of rock ’n’ roll and heavy metal.”

Prisoner are taking Kill The King across Canada this summer—dates below—and if “Double Vision” is any indication, their shows will be just as loud, bold, and unapologetically rooted in the spirit of rebellion as the record itself.
