Video Premiere: The Damnation – “Burning Rain”

Spoiler alert! Not a lot of rain in Brazilian death thrash trio, The Damnation‘s latest video for the track, “Burning Rain.” Nope, pretty dry and sunny in this performance video where the threesome—Renata Petrelli (guitar/vocals), Fernanda Lessa (bass), Camila Almeida (drums)—tear it up on and around a lot of old muscle cars in what looks like an abandoned factory. I dunno, maybe “rain” means something different in Brazil. There are also numerous shots of the band consuming mass quantities of liquor, so maybe that’s the “burning” part. The track definitely scorches, offering a femme-forward version of that groove-heavy thrash that fellow Brazilians Sepultura made a pretty good living at. The video was filmed by Pedro Campos and edited by Marcelo Varge.

Eyes of Despair was produced by Nicolas Gomes and Renata Petrelli and mixed by Nicolas Gomes at heavytrack. Mastering was done by Zeca Leme at Big Studio 5186. The album is set for release on  September 19 via Shinigami Records.

Here’s the band’s take on their upcoming full-length:

“We’ re very proud to finally release Eyes of Despair. This song, ‘Burning Rain,’ synthesizes all the elements on it, mixing anger, groove and honest lyrics.”
