The corpse of Pacific North Death dealers Dripping Decay has barely gone cold but that hasn’t stopped the band’s makers from moving on. Enter Ripping Remains, featuring Dripping Decay alumni Eric Stucke on guitar/vocals alongside fellow alumni Jason “The Machine” Borton (also Jungle Rot, Ripped to Shreds, Skeletal Remains). Bassist Michael Freiburger (Satanik Royalty Records) rounds out the lineup and they’re off to the races with their debut EP, Necrodestiny.
Fittingly, Necrodestiny exhumes the same themes and ideas that Ripping Remains had such a gory grasp on. Necrodestiny and the lead single “Rub My Infection On You”—stream it below—are executed in the style of old-school death metal, stacking breakneck musicianship with fast, Cannibal Corpse-esque vocals.
“‘Rub My Infection On You’ marries everything that makes death/grind great: bouncing, catchy hooks, blistering blasts, gut-churning bass and plenty of swaggering groove, topped off by a retching, rapid-fire vocal salvo telling the tale of a man desperate to share exactly what’s ailing him. Is it a palatable pathosis rotting him from the inside out, or a metaphorical malady that this sick protagonist feels the need to disperse amongst the unsuspecting populous? Either way, the goal is a listening audience irrevocably infected.”
At this point, you’re already infected just by reading about it. Better learn to appreciate that infection before Necrodestiny coms out on October 3 via Satanik Royalty.
