The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is set to feature a number of game-original characters – what went into their design, and what are some of your favorite original characters that you can talk about?

Do Hyung Koo

When designing the original characters, we focused on two key points:

First, they needed to bring new appeal and individuality without conflicting with the established lore of the original series. Second, they had to play unique roles and carry narrative weight within the gameplay experience itself.

These characters fill gaps in the world of The Seven Deadly Sins or offer new perspectives, becoming important allies (or powerful enemies) throughout Tristan’s journey.

The original characters I feel most attached to are “Clotho” and “Daisy,” who are central figures in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin universe. They were the very first original characters we designed, born out of long deliberation and careful thought. With their multiverse backgrounds, I believe they will deliver a strong sense of excitement and emotion when players encounter them in the game.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin TGS 2025 demo will feature three different content options, including a story mode, an open-world mode, and a boss time-attack mode. What went into the design of each of these demo elements?

Do Hyung Koo

Since the Tokyo Game Show comes nearly before launch, we wanted to showcase as many aspects of the game as possible, but naturally, demo time at a game show is limited. That’s why we prepared three distinct modes and content designed to best convey the essence of The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin within a short play session.

The Story Mode lets players experience the game’s original narrative and character drama in advance. It highlights the connections to the existing lore that fans expect, while also delivering an engaging story that newcomers can easily dive into.

The Open-World Mode was chosen to demonstrate one of The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin’s biggest features: the freedom of exploration and discovery. Here, we focused on showing not just combat, but also the interactions and adventures that unfold naturally within the field.

Finally, the Boss Time-Attack content offers a condensed look at the game’s action and combat system. Within a short period, players can switch between weapons, assemble teams with diverse fighting styles, and challenge bosses, getting a real taste of the depth and pace that define our combat experience.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is set to feature an open-world Britannia teeming with secrets – we can’t wait to explore it! How has its open world grown over development, and what are some of your favorite elements that went into its design?

Do Hyung Koo

For exploration in an open world to stay engaging, we felt it was essential that players continually encounter new environments and experiences as they progress. However, the original series’ settings alone weren’t enough to build a truly vast open world. So, we laid out a map of Britannia and focused on creating original regions that hadn’t appeared in the source material.

From there, we designed each area’s vegetation, monsters, and even their stories and settlements, tailored to the environment and climate. We combined these with exploration gimmicks and location designs to ensure the world doesn’t just feel like a large map, but like a living, breathing place.

Personally, my favorite design element is the moment when you climb to a high vantage point and take in a sweeping view of Britannia. It’s in moments like these that the open world feels less like a backdrop and more like a world you’re truly adventuring in and living through.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin will also feature elements like fishing and cooking – what went into the design of these more calm moments, and which one is your favorite?

Do Hyung Koo

The life content in The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin wasn’t designed just to offer fun outside of combat, but to create moments where players can pause, take a breath, and enjoy a sense of relaxation within the open world.

Through activities like fishing or cooking, you might spend time by a riverbank or prepare a meal by the campfire. These small moments of respite provide a sense of healing amidst the tension of battles and exploration.

Personally, I enjoy cooking the most. Gathering ingredients to prepare food not only offers small benefits for your adventure, but the process of gradually discovering new recipes itself brings a unique kind of enjoyment.

Finally, what have fans had to say about The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin regarding the recent Closed Beta Test?

Do Hyung Koo

The Closed Beta Test is scheduled to begin at the end of October. Its core purpose is to validate the player experience. We’ll be focusing on checking combat balance, exploration difficulty, puzzle design, and server stability.

The test will cover early story content, the core combat system, and exploration of select open-world regions, allowing players to directly experience the overall fun of the game and provide us with valuable feedback.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin will be available through the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, along with the PC via Steam and PlayStation 5.
