Full Album Stream: Morke –To Carry On

In the last eight years, multi-instrumentalist Eric Wing has issued one-person black metal and death metal releases under a handful of monikers/styles (Bog Burial, Scoundrel, Silver, Morose). Morke seems to go back the farthest (2017) and we are premiering the fourth full-length from that endeavor, To Carry On. Wing, who provides vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards on Morke’s latest was assisted by session drummer CJ Yacoub (Canus Dirus, Vulning) and guest guitarist/vocalist Tanner Anderson (Obsequiae), who added guitar to “Ashes of Feudalism” and ”Wisterian Arbor” and vocals to “Coup D’oeil.” To Carry On is apparently more melodic than past Morke efforts, with chiming, majestic reverb-heavy guitar lines providing the echoing “castle metal” vibe Wing has been pursuing with the project.

It’s set for release on cassette, vinyl and digitally on October 10 via True Cult Records. You can place your preorder here.

Wing had this to say about Morke’s fourth full-length:

“This album has been a devout labor of love, blood, sweat, and tears across the two and a half years of near-weekly work it took to complete, but I could not be more proud of what I’ve conjured with To Carry On. I pulled from a wide range of melodic death metal and dark metal influences, including the earliest material of bands like Fall of the Leafe, Dark Tranquillity, Night in Gales, Ablaze My Sorrow, Mithotyn, Agalloch, Obsequiae, Autumnblaze, The Morningside, Empyrium, In The Woods…, and many more to bring this album to life, and now I can confidently say that this is the album I’ve wanted to make from the moment I started writing it – with assistance in no small part from my dear friends CJ Yacoub, Tanner Anderson, and Neil Schneider, of course. I’m absolutely beyond honored to have Decibel premiere the full stream of my new album, and I offer my sincerest heartfelt thanks. This is an album about love, optimism, perseverance, nature, and the indomitable will of the human spirit, and I’m thrilled to share it with all of you. I sincerely hope this album gives you something to hold onto, whether it be escapism, hope, or something else entirely. I continue to persevere through dark times, and you can too. I believe in you. With that, I give you: To Carry On. Love and Hails, Eric”
