Lamp of Murmuur have been one of the most exciting bands in black metal over the last six years and it doesn’t seem like that’s about to change with the release of The Dreaming Prince in Ecstasy, the fourth full-length from the mysterious black metal outfit. Set for release in mid-November, The Dreaming Prince sees Lamp of Murmuur combine the themes of their last two LPs, Submission and Slavery and Saturnian Bloodstorm, for something that feels unique to the project.
We’ve still got a month before the album is out but Decibel has an exclusive premiere of “Reincarnation of a Witch,” the second preview from the album. Clocking in at a brisk five-and-a-half minutes, it’s a much shorter offering than the album’s first single, “Forest of Hallucinations.” “Reincarnation” starts off raw and traditional, propelled by blast beats and staccato riffs that contain just a hint of melody. As the song progresses, they turn a more melodic page, ushering in a brooding atmosphere and even a catchy moment.
“’Reincarnation of a Witch’ took form (like most of the Dreaming Prince… album) in an unexpected flash of chaos,” Lamp of Murmuur mastermind M. tells Decibel. “Enchanting, erotic and savage, those who were fortunate enough to witness the majesty of Lamp of Murmuur in a live setting throughout the last year will already be familiar with this new offering, as its anthemic nature has sent all who dared to listen into a subtle Dionysiac frenzy. It is a pleasure to unveil this track through Decibel Magazine as I deeply believe ‘REINCARNATION OF A WITCH’ spearheads the charge towards new dominions for this project.”
