Full Split Stream: Necronemesis / Gangrenesia – “Putrid Sanctity”

Puerto Rican death metal supremacy is on the menu with Putrid Sanctity, the new split between brilliantly-named outfits Necronemesis and Gangrenesia. Though the split isn’t due out for a few more days, Decibel has an early-access listen below.

The first side is from Necronemesis, who contribute two songs. Their follow-up to 2023 EP Warfield Forever, Necronemesis build on their chunky death metal sound by adding in faster grindcore influences and a smattering of gore in the vocal approach. The production is also a big step up from their last release, giving them a fatter, more aggressive sound.

On the flip side is Gangrenesia, whose specialty is brutal, slamming death metal. Their two contributions come with all the fixings one would expect: basketball snare, guitars tuned as low as they can go, guttural vocals and lyrical odes to strangulation, maggots and infection. It creates a bit of a whiplash from the breakneck pace set by Necronemesis but it’s easy to settle in when you hear those breakdowns.

If you dig what you hear below, Putrid Sanctity is available for pre-order here.
