Dragon Quest is entering new territory with the release of Square Enix’s mobile roguelite RPG DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow early next year.
Gamers Heroes recently ventured forth – iPhone in hand – as we checked out the most recent DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow Closed Beta Test adventure.
See what’s to come with our preview…
DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow Preview
With the handy-dandy robotic Roly guiding the way, DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow places the fate of the world in one’s hands – as one does!
From there, DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow lets players embark on a number of quests as they net better gear and fulfill their heroic duty, all while filling out the Adventure Log S.
Of course, if one’s feeling especially daring, DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow lets players perform Feats while “gitting gud” (and leveling up) in the process!
As players take on DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow’s signature Slimes (gotta have those!), they can also collect Growth Crystals that can then be used to claim Blessings.
This is where DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow’s roguelite elements come into play, with players adding Homing Projectiles, the Sword of Damocles, and other elements to their repertoire.
Also true to series form are DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow’s Coup de Grâce powerful attacks. While players have a little more oomph on one’s third stike, these attacks came in clutch when there are swarms of fearsome foes. As an added perk, these attacks net players even more Growth Crystals, ensuring the cycle again begins anew.
Said cycle is ultimately what kept us coming back throughout the DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow Closed Beta Period…
Longtime gamers know all too well about that “just one more” feeling that comes with the best of the best, and DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow has that element on lock. Best of all, most runs are done and dusted faster than your typical DoorDash delivery!
DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow’s roguelite RPG hook is truly addictive, promising a grand adventure for all Heroes when it launches next year.
DRAGON QUEST Smash/Grow will launch globally for mobile devices in 2026.
