A week after Kim Lip’s Can You Entertain, the Odd Eye Circle solos continue with fellow ARTMS member JinSoul. Ring Of Chaos exists in a similar musical world, harnessing throwback elements for a breezy, understated pop track.
Though I wouldn’t fully call Ring Of Chaos new jack swing, it borrows rhythms made popular in the late 80s. In this way, it feels like a natural extension of Can You Entertain. And just like that track, most of Chaos is very… non-chaotic. This is smooth and silky pop, opting for sophistication over ambition. The instrumental becomes a bit more exciting as the track goes on, injecting electric guitar and rugged synth, but overall the song is light and enjoyable. It’s the kind of music that’s easy to appreciate as it wafts by, even as it struggles to make a lasting mark.
With that said, Ring Of Chaos executes its sound quite well. JinSoul’s vocals act as an engaging guide through the mid-tempo bounce and there’s enough layering to give the track texture. I just wish the whole song had sounded more like its final minute. The music needs a small push toward more adventurous territory.
