Video Premiere: Dawn Fades – “Drugs”

Dawn Fades, the modern masters of alt-infused sludge, have released a new album today: III. The band has also unleashed a new video on the world, the horror-movie inspired “Drugs,” a song perfectly timed for the season! Decibel is proud to present this ghostly, bloody, and hypnotic video for your viewing and listening pleasure today!

According to Sam Sherwood, the band’s founder, singer and songwriter:

“I had the initial idea one day in the shower (as you do). It seemed too ridiculous and I remember I sat on it for a few days before bringing it to the band. Fortunately they got on board with me. When I found Ravensview Films, I discussed the idea and mentioned some of my favorite horror movies, Dead Alive and Killer Klowns being among them. You can see those influences in there for sure! The puppets are all Ravensview. Danial is somewhat of an experienced sock-puppeteer!”

I really liked the sock-puppet element, as it gives the video a bit of comic relief and shows that while the band takes its music very seriously, it doesn’t need to take itself too seriously. Sherwood goes on to explain that:

“The sock puppet segment required the most extensive planning by far, as the puppets were accurate doppelgängers of all five band members—down to their exact hair, tattoos, and instruments. Danial crafted every element by hand, from cutting little vests out of fabric to gluing tiny knobs and strings onto mini foam-board guitars with painstaking accuracy.”

III is out today, you can check it out and look into physical copies at Dawn Fades’ Bandcamp page.
