Video Premiere: Colossal Rains – “Deadlights”

Formed out of iconic Philly hardcore band Blacklisted, Colossal Rains drops their new video, Deadlights. Check it out with us first.

Their debut album, Feral Sorrow (out January 23 on Memory Music) features vocalist/guitarist Gee Hirsch, guitarist David Walling, bassist Jon-Michael Dean, and drummer Tyler Mullen.

Produced by longtime collaborator and Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, Scowl), Feral Sorrow picks up where Blacklisted left off. With Colossal Rains, that partnership returns, evolved and sharpened by growth on both sides. It’s the sound of seasoned creatives building something fresh, rooted in history but entirely focused on what’s next.

Throughout Feral Sorrow, the past collides with the present in a rapturous way that finds meaning and beauty in heaviness. The first song that made things truly click for the band was “Deadlights.”

Hirsch says, “I’ve had a poster of Blade Runner above my desk. Looking at the poster, I kept thinking about how badly I wanted to get on one of those ships, climb through one of the engines or into a cargo hold and just be a stowaway headed for a new life. But I knew I couldn’t.”

The resulting track captures that restless need to escape, as well as the harsh realization that sometimes you just can’t.
