Track Premiere: Moros – ‘Drowned in Decomposed Remains’

Philly’s filthiest extreme metal band, Moros, are back for another romp through sludge-infested death/doom waters. Seven years after their last full-length and two years after their last EP, Moros return to the scene with Cemetery Hallucinations, set for a March 13 release on vinyl by Strange Mono and tapes via Knife Hits Collective.

The second track, “Drowned in Decomposed Remains,” is the first preview of the album, splitting time equally between rumbling sludge and chugging death/doom riffs. It’s the most locked-in Moros have ever sounded, likely a reflection of the band’s lineup change that welcomed drummer Mike Howard into the fold.

“You know that scene in Poltergeist where Diane is sloshing around in the muddy unfinished pool in their back yard?” asks frontman Jason Dost. “Well, what if instead of just some wet skeletons, it was all decomposing bodies still half-full of piss and shit? You’re stuck in there like it’s quicksand, gasping for air and swallowing discharge and other human bits. Your body gives up and you die a horrible puke death ultimately joining the pit of dead bodies. How the hell did this even get here!?”
