Video Premiere: Buñuel – “High. Speed. Chase.”

Do you crave unhinged, unpredictable, and unapologetic punk-rock energy? Do you like it delivered through a filter of noise-rock dissonance and the vibe of 1980s California? Then Buñuel is the supergroup you need to hear, and their new video for “High. Speed. Chase.” is what you need to watch right now. Featuring the vocal talents of Decibel-back-of-the-magazine scene scribe, Eugene S. Robinson (Oxbow), the band also boasts guitarist Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours, A Short Apnea), bassist Andrea Lombardini (The Framers) and drummer Frank Valente (Il Teatro Degli Orrori).

The video was directed by Annapaola Martin and perfectly suits the mood of this particular track, which (to my ears) recalls the attitude of The Jesus Lizard while channeling the energy of bands like MudhoneyZeke and The Circle Jerks. If that diversity of influence interests you, there’s way more to be found on the band’s 2024 album, Mansuetude: the soundtrack to your next nervous breakdown (you’re head really hurts, and so on).

Check out the video for “High. Speed. Chase.” below. In a few days, the band will begin a tour of the western United States with the grinding brain-benders in Squid Pisser, supporting their album Dreams of Puke (what a time to be alive).
