Blast Worship: Warfuck

Where they from?
Lyon, France. My beloved New York Jets kick off Monday Night Football against the 49ers in 75 minutes and to quote Michael Scott, “I am ready to get hurt again.” I have been through it all with this team, and yet every September I come back like the loyal rube that I am. Fuck it, my Super Bowl prediction is: Jets 30 Lions 24. I am insane.

Why the hype?
This is probably the third or fourth time I’ve featured this band in this column so maybe it’s time you check ’em out, eh? They initially caught my ear with the EP ‘Hype Comes and Goes’ in 2016 which combined grindcore and metalcore elements in a truly bombastic and memorable way and I’ve been a close devotee ever since. It’s pretty remarkable that they are merely a two-piece since their sound is just so explosively FULL. Their music features plenty of stop/start twists and turns a la Yacopsae and they bring the viciousness of fellow french grinders Whoresnation. There is truly something for everyone here.

Latest release?
Fail.Repeat EP out now on LIXIVIAT Records. Everything comes full circle and yet again the boys have released another powerful and excellent EP. Though the metalcore elements seemed to have dwindled a bit, the rapid twisting and constant changes throughout the songs remain the same and the guitar riffing is still some of the best in the western hemisphere. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to watch Aaron Rodgers tear his other MCL five minutes into this game.
