As North America’s largest celebration of Japanese pop culture, Anime Expo 2025 recently brought forth more than 410,000 fans, delivering more than $110 million in revenue to local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
Anime Expo 2025 served as a showcase of over 1,300 hours of programming, including live concerts, world premieres, exclusive screenings, cosplay showcases, and special guest panels.
The guest roster for Anime Expo 2025 included globally recognized names that included Naoki Yoshida (FINAL FANTASY XIV and XVI), Peach Pit (the acclaimed manga duo behind Rozen Maiden and Shugo Chara!), Mokumokuren (award-winning creator of The Summer Hikaru Died), and Ryukishi07 (known for Higurashi and Umineko series).
With Anime Expo’s exponential growth, along with its evolving production needs and rising labor and venue costs, SPJA has announced that it is actively evaluating the City of Los Angeles as its longtime home for Anime Expo.
This decision closely follows the uncertainty around the long-anticipated expansion of the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is initially planned for completion ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.
On that note, Ray Chiang, CEO of SPJA, said the following:
“The Los Angeles Convention Center has been our home for more than 15 years, and we are deeply grateful to the city and community for their ongoing support.
However, our top priority has always been to deliver an exceptional experience for our attendees and partners. As we evaluate next steps, we remain committed to transparency and to finding the best possible path for Anime Expo’s future.”
The SPJA is currently planning for anime expo chibi, a smaller-scale spinoff convention, for November 8-9, in Ontario, California. Badges for the event are now available through ShowClix.
