Pokémon GO Trainers will be split into groups of four (or fewer) in their individual Max Battles to take on Gigantamax Pokémon – and even Eternamax Eternatus – with more total Trainers in the lobby resulting in a greater chance of victory.

This Pokémon GO update will begin worldwide with Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale on Saturday, August 23 at 10:00am (local time), and will remain in effect after the event concludes.

Get up to speed with the official Pokémon GO blog post, and see how Trainers can prep for Pokémon GO: Dark Skies’ festivities below:

From now through August 23 at 10:00am (local time), every Dynamax Pokémon that is currently in Pokémon GO will be available throughout the week.

On that note, both Zacian and Zamazenta are available in Five-Star Raids

Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta will be available during hour-long timeframes on Thursday and Friday.

When Pokémon GO: Max Finale officially kicks off, Eternamax Eternatus will take over Power Spots. On that note, every Gigantamax Pokémon seen in Pokémon GO will be spotlighted in hour-long timeframes throughout the weekend.

During this weekend period, Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta will appear more regularly in Five-Star Raids.

Trainers can review the full Dark Skies and Max Finale pages to find the exact times each Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon will be available during the event.

Trainers will also receive a number of bonuses throughout the event, including increased Max Particle limits, 2x Catch Candy, 2x Candy XL chance, and more.

Finally, make sure to use the RSVP Planner to team up with as many Trainers as possible!
