Abraded – Ethereal Emanations From Chthonic Caries
Damn, this is a really good get for Redefining Darkness Records. Abraded delivers a supremely satisfying listen here. Anyone looking for a band who knows how to play fast but still has a mind for grooves and dynamics, look no further. The drum sound is particularly effective here, propelling the music forward in exhilarating fashion.

Amorphis – Borderland
You know what you’re getting into with a modern Amorphis record. A canvas of progressive rock touched by hints of the band’s death metal past, painted in such a way to stick with the listener like an epic movie or book of tales (… from the thousand lakes).

Esses – Pain at the Altar of Jest
Dark and doomy hauntings along the same lines of bands like Draconian, SubRosa, Chelsea Wolfe, and True Widow. Music for deep thoughts on rainy days.

Revocation – New Gods, New Masters
MEANWHILE. You know what these guys are about! Well, in case you don’t, Revocation is a reliably riff-laded rage of thrash and death metal excellence, and has been for many years now. The band has always been an inspirational presence to me, being one of the only bands after 2010 or so that was able to galvanize a critical mass of the metal audience and get some real, sustainable popularity in a fragmented landscape. They’re the modern band a lot of younger metalheads first get into when diving deeper into the world of extreme metal, and for that, it’ll always be horns up from me. Also, “Sarcophagi of the Soul” totally rips.
