This blog gets a bit confusing when dealing with artists like BamBam. Nothing about new single Wondering is technically “K-pop,” as the song is performed in Thai and English. However, BamBam made his name with popular K-pop group GOT7 so I tend to consider him “part of the family,” if you will.
Regardless of where you slot Wondering, the song is a lot of fun. Its bright, breezy disco glide is instantly engaging. BamBam performs the entire track in an airy style, often incorporating falsetto. The melodies are pitched quite high, but the approach works because it gives Wondering an almost weightless appeal — as if the music is swirling around you at all times.
Wondering has modest ambitions, but that’s okay. As a light, funky dance track it more than accomplishes its goal and feels like a new twist on BamBam’s discography. It’s slight and enjoyable, meaning you could play it on a loop and hardly notice where the song ends and begins.
