The six-bedroom home at 20 Whyandra Close, Doonan.
The owners of this Sunshine Coast family home have had a special relationship with the tranquil spot where they’ve built 20 Whyandra Close, Doonan.
Tara and Andrew originally lived in an adjoining property that was once combined as one large acreage. But when the opportunity arose to subdivide, the couple opted to keep the front portion of the property, complete with a dam running through.
‘From the very beginning, we saw the potential to create something truly magical here,’ Tara says of the private site, located a short drive from Noosa and Eumundi.
‘We loved the idea of designing a home that was connected to the landscape, where our children could grow up surrounded by space, nature and calm. There was something undeniably grounding about it.’
With this clear vision in mind, the family engaged Aboda Design Group and Jaicon Constructions to bring the project to life.
Every design decision was carefully considered to honour the picturesque location, from the house’s clean lines to the textural material palette — comprising rammed earth walls, polished concrete floors, and natural timber joinery.
However, the most spectacular element is the home’s seamless indoor-outdoor flow.
The expansive kitchen and living zone features an 11-metre opening, as sliding doors peel open to the immersive courtyard, overlooking a resort-style pool and abundant tropical gardens.
‘The wall-to-wall rosewood sliders that disappear completely into the walls still amaze us,’ Andrew says.
‘We love the dam with the fountain that greets you on arrival, and the firepit with the teppanyaki grill where we’ve shared so many evenings with family and friends.’
There’s also a thriving edible garden with fruit trees and vegetable patches, a separate two-bedroom guesthouse, while a 13.3kW solar system and Tesla battery offer sustainable living.
It’s been a true sanctuary for their family for the last four years, and one that only gotten even better with age: ‘It’s become more beautiful, and more settled. It feels more lived-in now.’
But Andrew and Tara have now made the ‘bittersweet’ decision to list the home for sale.
‘It’s been a place where our family has grown, connected, and thrived,’ Tara adds. ‘We hope the next owners will feel the same.’
20 Whyandra Close, Doonan, QLD 4562 is listed for sale with Eliot & Kimberlea Krause from Krause Property Group.
