Located in the Moore Park Supa Centre, this Sydney showroom marks a major milestone for the Australian-owned company, which has grown from a mattress in a box startup to a premium global furniture leader over the past decade.

The showroom is an opportunity for Koala customers to try products in person before they buy. Stretch out on a sofa, sink into a mattress, plump up a pillow, and collect fabric samples before placing your order for home delivery. You’ll still get access to Koala’s famous 120-night trial period, including free return shipping for all products purchased by customers in metro areas.

The Koala showroom has been designed by IF Architecture (known for designing Attica, the Baker Bleu stores, and Jardan showrooms) to translate Koala’s distinctly Australian aesthetic, innovation, and ground-up design philosophy into a timeless physical environment.

The store tells a story, starting with the entrance, where Koala’s growing furniture range is showcased in a relaxed, home-like setting.

As customers move deeper into the space, the showroom transitions into a quiet, dedicated sleep sanctuary showcasing calming dark greens, sheer curtains, and individual sleep nooks. ‘Here, customers can privately test our mattress range away from harsh lighting and public view, ensuring a natural and stress-free decision process,’ says Koala director of design, Alexandra Owen.

Materials and colours throughout are a thoughtful translation of the Koala brand linked to the Australian landscape, people, lifestyle, and culture. ‘The materials chosen intentionally evoke a sense of the natural Australian surroundings, most notably through the use of spotted gum timber and striking, curved timber walls that inject architectural drama,’ says Alexandra.

Originally a temporary pop up store, the Koala Moore Park showroom is now here to stay. As the brand continues expanding globally, their core focus remains on designing products for real-life flexibility. ‘We are creating furniture that is engineered to move and adapt as our customers’ lives change,’ says Alexandra. ‘We are extending our expertise in superior comfort — from sleep and sofa beds — through to all seating categories. Customers will soon see and feel that difference across our entire collection.’

The success of the new Torquay Modular Sofa — with its changeable covers, performance fabrics, exclusive colours, toolless assembly, and circular economy model — perfectly encapsulates this evolution. ‘It’s been a smash hit because it redefines the modular category by offering exceptional quality, sophisticated design, and superior functionality at an outstanding price point,’ says Alexandra. ‘Our commitment includes using fabrics with 100% recycled content and providing replacement parts and covers, ensuring the product is built for longevity and minimising waste.’
