Blast Worship: Fulminate

Where they from?
Chicago, IL. Our long national nightmare is over: the Patriots lost the Super Bowl. I’m not gonna sit here and act like it was a great game, it very much was not, but it did end up being the cathartic ass-kicking we all desperately craved. Seeing the videos of Dave Portnoy miserable slumping in his chair made it all absolutely worth it.

Why the hype?
Great googly-moogly, who wants to here some gorgeously graphic goregrind? Fulminate gurgle and burp their way through 41 minutes of Dead Infection/early Carcass worship here, but luckily they (he) knows his way around writing actually interesting songs! There’s swings, blasts, D-beats and even the occasionally anthemic slow part that wouldn’t be out of place on Symphonies of Sickness.

Latest release?
Postoperative Decline out now on Acid Redux Records. It’s pretty remarkable that this is a one-person project because it has none of the trappings usually associated with one-man metal groups. The drums sound very precise and natural and the guitar is not overly flashy or demonstrative. Hell, even the bass sizzles in just the right way. Even the pitch-shifted vocals work to enhance everything! What the hell is going on here? Actual cohesion coming from a goregrind band? I didn’t know that was possible!
