Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Coming to Pokémon GO

Making their debut in Niantic’s Pokémon GO, both Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will make their debut as part of Pokémon GO Fest 2026. 

Beginning with Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, Pokémon GO Trainers will be able to earn Mega Energy X or Mega Energy Y by defeating Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y in Super Mega Raid Battles or by completing Timed Research. 

As a special bonus during their debut, every Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids will have at least one Mega Level already unlocked, which can then Mega Evolve without using energy.

For those attending the in-person events in Chicago, Copenhagen, or Tokyo, they can take advantage of early access to one of the two options:

Mewtwo with Level 1 unlocked for Mega Mewtwo X

Mewtwo with Level 1 unlocked for Mega Mewtwo Y 

This will be available via branching Timed Research and a massive in-person Raid Battle towards the end of their Park Experience.

Finally, each in-person Pokémon GO Fest day will conclude with Mega Mewtwo Raids at new gyms that allow for over one thousand Trainers to simultaneously take on Mega Mewtwo!
