Song Review: WOOAH – Summer

Over the past few months, H Music Entertainment has attempted to revitalize interest in its groups WOOAH and DXMON through a series of digital releases, but rather than put all their might behind one great comeback they’re farting out these low-budget, amateurish tracks that won’t successfully accomplish their goals.

I’m naturally biased toward summer-themed K-pop, so WOOAH’s aptly titled Summer earns bonus points simply for that. However, the song is as generic a seasonal offering as you can imagine. Every single moment, from production to melody, has been borrowed from much better songs and the important “it’s summer” hook lays disinterested at the heart of the track. Worse yet, Summer completely excises important pieces of its structure to get the song under two and a half minutes. I guess I can’t blame them in this economy. Second verses must be expensive, after all!
