How To Get TDF’s Dream Beach House Style At Home
Interiors
When it comes to styling a beach house, the word ‘relaxed’ immediately springs to mind.
Days by the beach are slower; it’s swim, eat, rest and repeat. It makes sense, therefore, that a holiday home reflects this relaxed way of living.
Nothing is too precious in this set-up. Seating comes in the form of large, comfortable armchairs for an optimum lounging experience; a mix of dining chair styles, shapes and colours add a ‘mis-matched’ eclectic vibe; and a sofa bed is a must for when guests come to stay.
A clever combination of both vintage and new furniture helps to set these welcoming, homely vibes.
Lighting should be soft and oversized, for ambience. We love large paper lampshades and quirky portable table lamps (that can be used for outdoor living too!).
Mix warm tones, such as timber and terracotta, with cool coastal blues and greens to balance everything out. And don’t forget to layer with texture; rugs, throws and cushions are all important elements here that add to a feeling of comfort, and invite rest.
Finally, personalise the space with treasures you’ve collected over time – handwoven baskets and weavings work so well in these spaces, alongside paintings with coastal motifs, handmade ceramics in organic shapes, and anything checkered or stripy !
In our dream beach house moodboard above, we’ve selected a painting by Gemma Leslie and the Sun Stripe tray from Pan After, both of which have those lovely cool blue tones to pair with the Dante cushion in tobacco from Weave, which brings in warm earthy hues.
