Song Review: ATEEZ (Yunho & Mingi) – Youth

ATEEZ’s weekly sub-unit music videos continue with Yunho and Mingi’s Youth. Thus far, the tracks have mainly played within the group’s usual sonic territory, but Youth lowers the energy to craft a wispy, occasionally jazzy, mid-tempo.

This sound isn’t what I’d expect from Yunho or Mingi, and that alone adds a spike of interest. I like this soft, lo-fi style for the guys. It shines full spotlight on their performance and casts an engaging mood. The song itself doesn’t register as strongly as the texture, but that’s par for the course with this genre. It’s the kind of music to throw on in the background of a rainy day — not title track worthy, but a nice way to expand the scope and depth of an album.
