Song Review: DK (iKON) – Groovin

After last week’s pre-release, iKON’s DK is back with the title track from first solo album. Groovin vaults him out from the murky mire of LTNS and deposits him in the club.

The song’s minimalist sound is surprisingly effective. It’s more of a “vibe” track than a dance track, but DK’s smooth vocals glide over the sparse percussion with satisfying ease. The chorus is especially enjoyable, delivering a melody with far more range than I’d expected from such a subdued production. I’m not sure I’ll remember Groovin at end of the year, but for now it’s a nice palette-cleanser between bigger and more bombastic K-pop releases.
