Although it might seems so soon, Infinity Ward’s new Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is coming, and its doing its best to create a whole new experience for Call of Duty players based on the leaks and news at hand.
Activision Blizzard maintained that Call of Duty 2022 will provide a unique experience to its new players, and also claimed that Warzone 2 is being produced apace with the upcoming Call of Duty. Modern Warfare II as well as Warzone 2 will be developed by its new unified engine which is probably why Infinity Ward is promising a brand new hands on experience.
Taskforce 141 is back! If you have been a fan of the Modern Warfare series, then you know the campaign will feature some of the original main characters whom are: Captain Price, Lieutenant Ghost Riley, Sergeant Soap Mctavich, and Sergeant Gaz Garrick. The campaign is a sequel of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s (2019) campaign, and it introduces new mechanics to the game.
One of the new mechanics that were teased in the gameplay trailer of Call of Duty is the swimming mechanic. Unlike Black Ops 3, players will only be able to use a pistol or a knife, and the the projectile speed of the bullets is drastically decreased. The entire physique and effects of the water have been reworked.
There are two new game modes being introduced to multiplayer. One game mode is “Knockout” which is similar to gunfight from Modern Warfare, but the difference is that it is 6 vs 6 and players can revive each other. The second game mode is Prisoner Rescue. This game mode is similar to search and destroy; however, instead of planting the bomb, attackers should try to rescue the prisoner. Whereas, the defending team should devise plans to inhibit and fend of the attackers.
It is also been confirmed that the gunsmith will be back in Modern Warfare II, and this time it is more optimized. It is said that there will be a huge range of attachments (70 ~ 100) per gun. Not only can a player fully customize his or her weapon to suit his playstyle, but they will also be able to tweak the attachments. For example, attaching a grip helps reduce recoil, but decrease movement speed. You can tweak the attachment in a way to increase the movement speed a bit, but this will also add to the recoil of the weapon. I am not pretty sure how this will pan out, but it sure opens up to creativity and seems interesting to have a little bit of fun with.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is expected to release on October 28, 2022 and will be playable on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and finally on PC via Battle.net and Steam. We could expect an open beta soon, and I am personally really looking forward to experience what the game has to offer.
