Today has delivered several new summer tracks and GOT7’s main vocal Youngjae is here to offer something a little more subdued and groovy. Rather than the soundtrack to a beach party, T.P.O feels like the song you’d play on the way home as the sun is setting.
With this as a mission statement, T.P.O is pleasant but inessential. The song wafts in and out on hazy synths and a reserved rhythm. Youngjae’s smooth vocal works well over this sound, adding a stately grace to the song. The chorus utilizes a descending melody to add to the calm — almost sleepy — energy. It’s not miles away from K-pop’s mellow take on city pop. And as I often say about this style of song, T.P.O would make a nice addition to any summer playlist but would struggle to become the main attraction.
