One of life’s great unspoken truths is this: old shit tends to sound great. Case in point: Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, the NWOBHM, Mozart, Charlie Parker and Eaglewing.
Eaglewing? Who the fuck are they? You’re about to learn via their kickass new self-titled two-song EP coming from King Volume Records. The Denver band calls themselves “heavy progressive classic rock revivalists,” which is a fancy way of saying they sound like the albums in your cool uncle’s LP collection. They aren’t old themselves but have certainly studied the seminal works of grizzled rock.
“The late ‘70s and early ‘80s were the best time for music,” guitarist Russell Ponder says. “You had some of the best music pioneers in the best bands in the world with all of these different influences. We’re trying to bring back that same level of passion and fury in a new wave of American heavy metal.”
It’s a worthy mission, and they seem up to it. Take a listen below and then preorder a copy here or directly from the label.
